Activity:
Create a Mesopotamian city-state on poster paper. In the center of the city-state will be a ziggurat. Draw a mud-brick ziggurat. Craw a temple on top of it. Draw steps to the temple. Around the ziggurat draw small sun-baked clay houses and narrow streets. Near the ziggurat draw a royal palace and some fancy public buildings. Draw a mud-brick wall around your city-state. Make large gates. At each gate draw stands where farmers sell their crops and crafters sell their goods. Draw a road leading from each gate to small villages in the outer areas. Add rivers, palm trees, bushes, and farmland, then name your city-state.

Homework:
Finish city-state if it is not completed in class.
